EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES BOROUGH OF AMBRIDGE
Ambridge Borough - Full-Time Police Officer
Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Ambridge Civil Service Commission to take a competitive examination leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Patrolman or School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Ambridge Borough Police Department.
Candidates at the time of application must: (1) Possess a high school diploma or a Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED); (2) Must have successfully completed Pennsylvania Act 120 Certification, including passing the final exam; (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least 21 years of age at time of application; and (6) Be legally eligible to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In addition, applicants after appointment will be required to live within a fifty (50) minute travel time from the Ambridge Borough Building.
Successful applicants must also meet all requirements of the Borough’s Civil Service Rules and Regulations, which includes a background investigation, and if selected, be required to pass a physical and psychological examination.
An application packet and details of the selection process may be obtained at the Ambridge Borough Police Department located at 600 11th Street, Ambridge, PA 15003, between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Applications will be accepted from Monday, June 20, 2022, through Friday, July 1, 2022, with a deadline for submission of 3:00 pm, at the Police Department. A $50.00 non-refundable testing fee is also required with the Application. The physical agility test, which will consist of the 30% Cooper Standard, will be performed on July 5, 2022, at 9:00 am, at the Allegheny County Police Academy. Applicants who pass all phases of the physical agility test will then be permitted to take the written examination at 1:00 pm that same date at the Ambridge Borough Building. Applicants who obtain the required minimum score of 70% on the written examination will then be contacted to schedule an oral examination.
