The Borough of Ambridge is always accepting applications for part-time employment in all departments: Police, Fire, Administration and Public Works. Full-Time Patrolman

Due to limited applicants, The Ambridge Borough Police Department is extending the deadline to return applications to March 31, 2026.


Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Ambridge Civil Service Commission to take a competitive examination leading to eligibility for appointment a Full-Time Patrolman, or School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Ambridge Borough Police Department.


General Requirements:

  1. Possess a high school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED)
  2. Must have successfully completed Pennsylvania act 120 certification, including passing the final exam
  3. Be a United States citizen
  4. Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer
  5. Be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment
  6. Be legally eligible to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania


Successful applicants must also meet all requirements of the Borough’s Civil Service Rules and Regulations that will include a background investigation, and if selected, be required to pass a physical and psychological examination.


In addition, applicants after appointment, will be required to live within a 50-mile radius of the borough of Ambridge.

  • Starting 2026 salary: $59,000
  • 2027 top rate: $89,250
  • K-9 unit, SRO program, drug task force, traffic units
  • 12-hour shifts (Panama schedule)
  • Amazing healthcare package including dental and eye care

  • 16 hours of sick time added to bank per month, max 960 hours
  • 12 paid holidays per year
  • $1,000 annual uniform allowance
  • Ample overtime and special details, overtime can be converted to comp time and banked up to 168 hours
